When you are young, much of life feels magical.

Every moment is embellished with imagination.

However, as you grow up, 

there is an expectation to graduate from the sparkles. 

To step away from these youthful symbols of femininity.

To fit the mold of what a “real adult” looks like.

Why is it we shame the color pink? 

Why do we stray from this expression of playfulness?

Is a gray suit somehow more professional 

than one covered in sequins?

You do not have to give up on the whimsical 

to be taken seriously.

Credibility does not exist in the way you choose 

to express yourself!

Life is much more exhilarating, when you allow yourself

to live through an iridescent lens.

In this body of work, each piece correlates

to a time in my life where 

whimsy existed in abundance. ‘

These images were inspired by memories of 

ice cream in the tub after a day of dress up, 

my grandfather allowing me to decorate 

his face with gemstones, 

playing fairies in the backyard with my sister, 

and waiting for my favorite purple dress to be washed

so I could waltz around my home 

as my favorite princess yet again. 

 

Today I challenge you to put on your

shimmer colored glasses and see life

as you once did before; 

with a little extra shimmer!
